About Screen Free Zone

Screen Free Zone is an independent review and research site covering tools for reducing compulsive phone use — phone lockboxes, minimal phones, kid-safe devices, and analog alternatives. Every product earns one of three verdicts: Buy, Shortlist, or Skip.

This is a research-based site at launch. Verdicts are based on manufacturer specifications, published technical reviews, and user reports — not hands-on testing. Where sourcing matters for a specific claim, we say so in the review text. Our methodology is explained in full on the How We Review page.

The tools for reducing phone use are genuinely diverse — an ~$30 NFC keychain, a ~$300 dumb phone, a purpose-built kids' device, a paper planner. Deciding which approach fits which habit requires more than a product page or an affiliate listicle. Screen Free Zone was built to give those decisions a structured answer: a clear verdict, against a specific buyer persona, grounded in what the product actually does and where it falls short.

Screen Free Zone earns revenue through affiliate links — when you buy through a link on this site, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. We also use display advertising. Affiliate relationships do not influence verdicts or rankings. Our affiliate disclosure explains how this works in full.
